POSTGRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS - CHEMISTRY (UP TO FIVE POSITIONS)

School of Chemistry, The University of Sydney
The School is currently seeking Honours graduates in all areas of Chemistry to take up ten part-time (0.2 FTE) appointments at Associate Lectureship level. You must be enrolled in a PhD (preferred) or MSc degree in the School of Chemistry and the salary is in addition to scholarship funding. This world class Fellowship Program provides training and experience in tertiary teaching to outstanding postgraduate candidates with the aim of developing the next generation of Australian University academics.
You will conduct up to four first year tutorials per week throughout each semester and contribute to exam marking. Training will be provided by School of Chemistry staff, including recipients of local and national teaching awards. Further support will be provided throughout the year by academic staff involved in the teaching program.
You must demonstrate outstanding research potential. Preference will be given to applicants who can also provide evidence of quality performance in demonstrating or tutoring to undergraduate students. You will tutor in all areas of first year chemistry, undertake administrative functions and participate in community engagement activities including Sydney Open Days. A first class Honours degree in Chemistry (or equivalent) and outstanding oral and written communication skills are also a necessity. Enrolment in a PhD or MSc in the School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney is a requirement throughout the duration of tenure.
You must be available to commence duties at the beginning of Semester 1, 2013. The positions are part-time (0.2 FTE) up to three years and are subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
Remuneration package: pro-rata $71K p.a. (which includes a base 0.2FTE salary Associate Lecturer Level A $60K p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation). A contribution to relocation expenses of up to $5,000 will be available to successful applicants from outside of the Sydney area.
